Adult Min red Competion

16 May 2012

On Sat 12th May Coach Collen organised an Adult mini red competition. The round robin format saw many keenly contested matches and competition was stiff with Hilary Brattle and Nikki Paton slugging it out for top lady while John Weber and Chris Rhodes were just trying to survive. The Morris family were having a battle amongst themselves for tennis bragging rights, the winner remaining a family secret. Which left defending champion Matt Quinn to narrowly beat Patrick Parry-Evans in a closely contested final.

Jubilee Day and Tennis Open Day - Tuesday 5th June

10 May 2012

VOLUNTEERS WANTED TO HELP WITH EVENTS

The Balsall Common Lions are coordinating the Queen's Jubilee celebrations at the Lant Recreation Ground on Tuesday 5th June, which will be free for local residents to attend. This family friendly event will run from 2pm - 9pm and will be headlined by a Take That tribute act.  This will be the biggest community event Balsall Common has ever staged.

An opportunity for Berkswell & Balsall Common Tennis Club

This event presents a great opportunity for our Club to raise its profile within the local community and as a result we plan to hold our Open Day at the same time.

Activities will commence at 2pm, finish at 6pm and are FREE to members and non-members alike.

These will include:

* A Tennis Factory for younger juniors 2pm - 4pm

* Junior coaching groups for older juniors 2pm – 4pm
* Adult Social Tennis throughout the afternoon 2pm - 6pm
* 'Rusty Racquets' Coaching for adult returners and beginners 4pm - 6pm
* Plus a chance to test the speed of your serve!  3:30pm - 4:30pm

New members joining on the day will get a 20% discount on their subscriptions.  Please bring along your friends and neighbours who might wish to try out some tennis before deciding to join.

Event planning

As we expect a lot of people on the day, we need Tennis Club members to help with welcoming potential new members on the day, to help organise juniors, to play with new adult members and various other tasks.  The Lions would also welcome additional support, particularly to assist as marshals.

If you are prepared to help, either with the Tennis Open Day or with the general jubilee celebrations, please contact  Alan Dick  - 01676 535711 / 07885 757702 or alanjohndick@gmail.com

THIS REALLY IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR TENNIS CLUB AND THE SPORTS ASSOCIATION TO RAISE OUR PROFILE IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.

PLEASE HELP BY VOLUNTEERING YOUR SUPPORT ON THE DAY.

THANK YOU
