Summer Ball

15 July 2010

The Berkswell & Balsall Common Sports & Community Association held its second Annual Summer Ball on Friday 9th July.  We were blessed by warm weather and 140 members and guests from all the sports clubs enjoyed a fantastic evening - starting with a champagne reception, followed by an excellent three course meal and finally dancing into the night to a great band and disco.  It was amazing to see all the ladies in their finery - and the men also looked very smart in their black tie outfits.  As well as having a great time, the evening raised significant funds for the Association through a well-supported raffle and a live auction.

Betting on the Tennis Totes

11 June 2010

Held the evening before the Epsom Derby, one of the oldest and most famous horse races in the World, the Club's race night was a winning occasion attended by more than 70 guests who enjoyed a flutter on the horses and a delicious finger buffet from Feast Catering.

Event Organiser and Committee Member, Chris Rhodes said: “The evening was very animated with people really getting into the spirit of a day at the races. A lot of fun was had by all and we raised a staggering £680.”

Our social programme continues with the stunning Summer Ball on Friday 9th July – and of course, screening of World Cup football matches throughout the tournament.

Junior Zone

We have an active and thriving junior section and run many activities throughout the year, providing a place where children can enjoy playing tennis and where they can have access to coaching relevant to their needs.

During 2010 we will be encouraging all junior members to play tennis outside of their coaching sessions and participate in club competitions and tournaments.  We also hope that Parents will join in and enjoy tennis with their children.

The Club aims to create an enjoyable and safe environment for all young people taking part in sporting events at the club.  We follow guidance issued by the LTA in this regard, and we have appointed Hilary Brattle (01676 534937) with specific responsibility for the welfare of young people.

Junior non-members

Junior members may introduce non-member playing guests up to a maximum of 6 times per year, without charge.  This is provided that there is a responsible adult present.  This adult need not be a playing member, but must be present and take responsibility for court conduct.  Junior non-members from other clubs are allowed to use the courts for pre-arranged matches against BBCTC juniors in leagues, tournaments, inter-club ladder matches etc.
